11/4/11

Morgan ate about half of her brown rice and raisins at breakfast.  At lunch she ate all of her french bread and dried apricots, most of her cooked carrots and about half of her meatloaf.

Morgan played with the "black kitty" (baby black panther), "Charlie kitty" (baby mountain lion), and panda bear duplos a lot this morning.  She was carrying them around individually or together.  When I thought it was really cute was when she put them on a big duplo base and put a person on each end like they were guarding the animals.  : )

Morgan has been asking "Where dad go?" frequently this week.  I always ask her the question back and she has always said, "At home!"  I then ask her where mom's at and every time (except once today when I was trying to get her to perform to show Gary) she says, "At work!"  It just cracks me up!

Morgan acted like she was going to bite several times today.  I caught her in the act and intervened each time, so I am not sure if she would have actually done it or not.  One of the times was definitely provoked.   She was playing with her duplo things on the big interlocking blocks and Emily was walking on the blocks and very deliberately stepped on Morgan's fingers.  Morgan then leaned down and bit her shoe.  I have to admit that it kind of hit my funny bone (because no one got seriously hurt), but I didn't let them know it.  It just looked so comical!

11/3/11

Morgan ate all of both her grapes and her whole wheat cinnamon toast at breakfast.  At lunch she ate all of her mashed potatoes, canned cherries and about half of both her dinner roll and her home made chicken strips.

Morgan continued to mess with, poke and hold her ear today.  Actually she was doing both at one time or another, but her right more.  She was doing it with her hand, the pretend knives, her spoon at the table and the drumsticks.  She also has been tossing and turning throughout nap so far.  I just want to keep you up to date on my observations.  (Notice the drumsticks in the drumming picture.)

Gary and I were talking today and realized that Morgan has not only been more testy this week, but also wanted to cuddle and be close to me more than usual.  I wonder if it is all related -- ears, increased frustrations/tantrums and cuddliness...

Morgan cracked me up today when she put a couple of flat but long duplos together and was using it as her phone.  They have done that before, but what make it really funny was how she went around and held it up to each of her friend's ears and asked, "Hi Grammy?"  It was so cute!

This morning, out of the blue, Morgan asked, "Where Mel'nie go?"  She then got down from my lap and raced over to Joslyn's family poster, found Melanie, pointed to her and said, "There is!"  She's amazing!

11/2/11

Morgan ate all of her peaches and seconds on whole wheat bagel at breakfast.  At lunch she ate everything -- salad with ranch, corn, ham bits and home made macaroni and cheese.

Morgan had on the lion mask when you guys left this morning.  Well, she left it on for over 15 minutes.  Not only that she also spent about 10 of those minutes looking at books with it on.  I don't think we have ever had any one do that before.  It was pretty cute!

Morgan had a much better day today, with no melt downs and only a couple testing times.  She was looking at the family posters today, especially Coral's.  She announced, "There Coral!  I found it!" while she was looking at it.  She really likes Coral and usually asks where she is at least once a day.

Morgan found a penguin duplo today and brought it over saying "waddle-waddle" and doing the back and forth motions for it.  I laughed so hard because it is super cute!  She also made a pretty tall duplo tower today and put Winnie the Pooh on top of it then brought it over proudly to show me!  I love it!

11/1/11

Morgan ate all of her pears and seconds on blueberry muffin at breakfast.  At lunch she ate everything -- orange slices, sweet potato and tuna on crackers.

Morgan struggled quite a bit today -- a little too much partying over the last couple days maybe.  Everything seems to set her off.  Usually lately we have been able to identify triggers and either remove them or talk her through the issues before it gets to the melt-down stage, but there were several today.

One issue was the duplos.  She was determined to try to collect all of the duplo characters (especially Big Bird) and didn't want any of the other kiddos to have any of them.  If someone had one, she was insistent that she get it from them no matter how much we worked to help her find other ones like them or distract her with something else.

Kenzie was at the little table today and Morgan went over to her, leaned on the table with her elbow and asked, "ya want coffee?"  Kenzie ignored her at first then finally went along with it, so Morgan brought her coffee after coffee.  They were very engaged with it.

10/31/11

Morgan ate all of her Chex cereal and fruit salad at breakfast.  At lunch she ate all of her roast beef sandwich and most of her tomato soup and her apple slices.

Morgan was excited about toy exchange and spent about the first half hour or so going around and examining the new toys.  She did some drumming, then helped Kenzie and Jadey stack all five of the drums up like big blocks into a "tower".  She also decided to try to "tie" the drumsticks together.  They are attached to the drums by short strings and she obviously knows what you can do with string.  : )

She did a little fishing also, but quickly traded that in for playing with the cell phones.  She had one in her hand or up to her ear basically the rest of the time we were in the big room.  Most of the time she was "talk to Daddy" but mom and Grammy got a call in there too.

Gary was talking to Alayna about following the rules and who was in charge here.  She then asked Alayna, "Who's the boss at home?"  Morgan was apparently listening because she vigorously started patting her own tummy and said, "ME!"  : )  That cracked us up!

Morgan was using the fishing pole as a "walking stick" more than to actually fish today.  It took me a while to figure out what she was doing, but she got so excited when I finally did!  : )
