Morgan ate all of her craisins and seconds on oatmeal at breakfast.  At lunch she ate seconds on applesauce and all of her ground beef (I mixed it with her seconds on applesauce) and her pea and macaroni dish (with a little grated cheese on it).

Now that Morgan can get up on the couch independently she is taking books over, climbing up and "reading" on a pretty regular basis.  Usually she just turns and looks at the pages, but sometimes lately she has been vocalizing as she looks, as if she is "reading aloud".  It is really cute!

Morgan was fussy off and on for no apparent reason.  Some of the time it was when she was upset about not getting her way, but others she would just start fussing and there hadn't been anything prior to trigger it that I could see.  One of the things that was really frustrating her several times was trying to get in the box unsuccessfully.  It wasn't good enough for me to help her in either -- she wanted to do it on her own and for some reason couldn't quite get it today.

I have noticed that Morgan prefers to follow and try to do what the big kiddos are doing than hanging out with the littler ones.  That may be because in my primary care group there is Bode, Keenan, Cypress, Morgan and Kenzie.  Much of the morning play time Kenzie is still taking a morning nap, so there are only bigger kiddos.  If they are jumping off the mattress, so is she.  If they are doing somersaults, so is she.  If they are reading, so is she...

One thing she has watched modeled by the bigger kiddos many times if putting the little cars on the top of the ramps and making them go zooming down.  Today she was doing it herself over and over.  Joslyn was hanging out with us briefly while Gary was getting Emily a bottle and she was watching as Morgan zoomed the cars down the ramp.  She was just cracking up, which made Morgan very animated as she did it again and again.

Morgan ate all of her blueberries and seconds on blueberry bread pudding at breakfast.  She has obviously gotten over her dislike of blueberries.  At lunch she ate all of her green beans, about half of her turkey burger on a bun and a bite of kiwi.

Morgan must have brought me the binoculars to help her look into them at least 10 times today.  They have pictures of wildlife and scenery in them.  I think she is actually seeing the pictures because sometimes she will study it for a few seconds before taking it away.

Morgan has figured out how to get in and out of the box.  Well, at least she did it twice today.  Later on, she tried to get back in and couldn't get it, but she knew she could do it and it was frustrating her a little.  I gave her just enough help for her to be successful and she was AOK then.

Morgan and Joslyn have been getting in some pretty good squabbles lately.  Sometimes it is over a toy or just space, but usually it is over me.  It is often when Jos is cuddling me and Morgan notices.  She comes racing over and wants up or cuddled.  I always make room for her, but that just isn't good enough.  She usually starts either pushing Joslyn away or hitting at her, so I tell her gentle and give her the opportunity to give her a gentle touch.  If she does all is well, but if not, I put her down and tell her that we have to be gentle to our friends.  She doesn't like that at all, but is learning and usually will give Jos a gentle touch so it doesn't have to go to that point.

Morgan loves the drums that are back in the back room.  She and I sat side-by-side and played together.  I would drum several beats then pause and she would do it.  We did it over and over and Morgan loved that!

2/23/2011

Morgan ate all of her dried mango bits and seconds on whole wheat toast with jelly on it at breakfast.  At lunch she ate about half of her tropical fruit, most of her fried sweet potatoes and all of her beef and bean burrito.

Morgan wanted me to help her put on a back pack today.  I did and she walked around with it on for several minutes.  It was funny because then had me help her put one on and she followed Morgan around wherever she went.  Morgan knew it because she kept looking back at Jadey and grinning.

Morgan was a little fussy this morning, but really not bad at all over all.  She also only had one melt down over not getting her way today.  She only slept for about 50 minutes at nap time, but was pretty congenial about cuddling quietly with me for the first 30 minutes or so after she woke up.

Morgan was really trying to crawl into the toy shelves several times today.  Bode really thought that was funny and had to keep bringing my attention to it, which always made Morgan turn around grinning.

Morgan got one of the play water bottles and one of the dolls and was 'feeding' the baby with the water bottle.  It was really cute because she had the dolly laying in her lap and was using both hands to feed her.  It looked slightly on the force feeding side, but...  : )

2/22/2011

Morgan ate most of her mixed fruit and all of her Kix cereal at breakfast.  At lunch she ate seconds on ham sandwich and all of her steamed broccoli and mandarin oranges.

Morgan did lots of exploring of the "new" toy exchange toys today.  She really liked the flip cell phones and kept bringing them to me to help her open if they were closed.  She was also just carrying them around and, of course, talking on them.  Some of the times I heard "daddy", "hi", or "bye", but mostly just lots of jabbering.

Morgan had quite a few melt down when she didn't get what she was wanting.  That included things like trying to take toys from others, having to give kiddos gentle touches or loves instead of hitting, sitting on the chair...  She just acted like it was the end of the world, but most of them were short lived.

Connor was glad to see Morgan and was trying to get her to play chase with him across the big room.  After she realized what he wanted they played several trips back and forth and they both were really loving that.  When Morgan would race across to him, she would always give him a love, which was cute.
