7/27/12

Morgan ate all of her oatmeal and craisins at breakfast.  At lunch she ate all of her applesauce and her pasta pea with grated cheese dish and about half of her ground beef. 


Morgan headed over to the block poster this morning to decide what "we" should build.  She chose one that you lay on its side to make a "tunnel" to crawl through.  She played on and in it for a while before choosing to other ones. 

From the big blocks she moved on to the duplo blocks and did several awesome creations with those.  Some where small and others were HUGE.  Some she did by herself and others she worked on with Kenzie.  One of them she brought over to show me and said, "It's for Grammy and Gacky!"  She was very proud of all of them. 


Morgan cracked me up this morning when she chose to lay on the floor, right in front of the book rack, to read books.  There is an overstuffed chair in the reading area and a little bench also, but the floor obviously had more appeal at that given time.  : ) 

Morgan and Kenzie were really trying to wrestle with each other for a while today.  They don't usually do that so it was kind of funny.  We have a "no wrestling at Gary and Lauralea's" rule because someone always gets either hurt or angry and it really hasn't been much of an issue with the girls we have right now.  For some reason today they just decided it sounded like the thing to do, I guess. 

7/26/12

Morgan ate everything at breakfast -- blueberry bread pudding with extra blueberries.  At lunch she ate all of her green beans, mandarin oranges and the bun off of her turkey burger.  She also ate several bites of the turkey. 

Morgan wanted me to help make her a big block "motorcycle" so I did, of course.  She was so funny, because she obviously had a picture in her head of what it should look like.  She was trying to give me direction, but I wasn't getting it.  I finally told her I would make the basic motorcycle and she could fix it up however she wanted.  That appeased her.  When we had it all done, I made the mistake of scooting her (on the cycle) across the room and then she wanted me to "scoot" her over and over.  : ) 

When Kenzie came today wither her open backed shirt on, Morgan really looked it over.  She then started chuckling and announced, "Your back is naked!"  : )  Kenzie loved it (and so did we).  I love kiddo's perspectives. 

Morgan spent a lot of time dancing and singing into the echophones while watching herself in the mirror.  She was really going through all kinds of different antics and views.  As she was singing she was chanting "You wake her up" over and over. 

Morgan was putting one of the doctor tools up to her eye and looking around saying, "That's my 'noculars."  From there she tried to stick the pointy part into Thomas' eye while looking through the other end.  After I vetoed that idea and told her it was for looking into ears instead, she gave him a very thorough ear examination.  Thomas loves it when the "big" kiddos play with him and he just cooperated like a trooper!  Kenzie must have been her assistant and was doing a more distant exam!  : ) 

7/25/12

Morgan ate thirds on dried mangoes and all of her toast with jelly at breakfast.  At lunch she ate all of her sweet potatoes and about half of both her burrito and her tropical fruit. 

Morgan had an awesome day today and she and Kenzie even got along without getting under each other's skin most of the morning!  ; )

Morgan wanted to "make legos" first things this morning, so I helped her make different letters on the duplo plates.  She thought that was way cool and had to run out and show Gary each time I finished a different one.  After we did several she started just adding duplos to fill the entire plate and then built on top of it from there.  I love how one thing leads to another, leads to another, leads to another... with duplos.  That is what we are talking about when we use the term open-ended.  There isn't just one thing to do with them and it can go on and on! 

Morgan was looking for the "medicine book" today and Kenzie started helping her. I was busy with one of the babies and not really paying full attention until I heard Kenzie ask Morgan, "What IS the medicine book".  Morgan looked at me for help and I had to really think before realizing she mean the "Corduroy goes to the doctor" book.  : ) 

Morgan started to get frustrated once today when Peyton wouldn't give up a toy she was playing with.  I teasingly said, "Remember, you are Morgan Tucker the Turtle Smith!"  She loved it and said it several times later on in the morning.  : ) 

7/24/12

Morgan ate seconds on cinnamon roll and all of her prunes at breakfast.  At lunch she ate all of her cantaloupe and waffles and some of both her hashbrowns and her scrambled eggs. 

Morgan wanted to cuddle and read books until I had to help one of the babies come in this morning (about 15 minutes).  She had a major melt-down this morning over Kenzie not giving her the plate the Morgan wanted (when Kenzie was the one originally playing with it).  It escalated quickly and intensely.  She was kicking, scratching and flailing like crazy and ended up with some battle scars.  Gary was the one who dealt with her so he can give you more details that I can. She was asleep almost immediately at nap time, so I am assuming this episode was primarily triggered by a short fuse due to sleep issues. 

Several of the kiddos were playing at the little picnic table with the food stuff Morgan kept requesting different kinds of foods, but mostly "peppers" and "Popsicles". The popcicles were really the pretend shish-kabobs.  They played there for 15 or so minutes. 

Kenzie and Morgan were also being engineers.  Both of them has some costume issues though.  Kenzie was a little confused about the engineer cap -- determined that the adjustment band was an under the chin strap so that it ended up looking more like a bonnet that an engineer's cap.  Morgan tried to help her, but Kenzie would have nothing of that.  Morgan, on the other hand was wearing the engineer hat just right (if inside out), but had on the postal person vest with it.  Hey, you have to be creative with limited props!  : ) 

7/23/12

Morgan ate a couple bites of her mixed fruit and about half of her Kix cereal at breakfast.  At lunch she ate everything -- kiwi, broccoli and ham sandwich. 

Morgan went over to the poster with pictures of different kind of block structures on it and pointed to one, asking "How 'bout we build that?"  Of course, 'we' meant Lauralea.  : )  We did build the car-type thing she asked for and she was so excited.  It didn't last more than about 10 minutes before she decided she was done with it and ready to tear it down and do something different with them. 

One thing she and Kenzie made with them was two slabs then stacked them on top of each other like a very precarious two layer stage.  She and Kenzie each had one and what they were doing then was even funnier.  One of them would call out an invented (made-up) word and then other one would laugh like crazy at it.  Then they would switch and the other one would call out a word and on it went.  I decided it was their version of a comedy show.  : ) 

Another thing they were doing with the big blocks was playing what Morgan called "bumper boats" and then what Kenzie called "go fast".  They were almost the same game.  In Morgan's they each sat ON one of the blocks and tried to crash into other blocks and in Kenzie's they stood and pushed one of the big blocks around the room as fast as possible into other blocks.  They both were laughing the majority of the time. 

Outside most mornings (including this one) the kiddos ask to do bubbles.  I use this huge multi-bubble wand and they chase them and try to pop them before the fall to the ground or go too high in the air.  For a while today the wind was just perfect to blow some HUGE ones to chase.
