3/4/2011

Morgan ate seconds on both raisins and malt-o-meal at breakfast.  At lunch she ate a bite of mixed fruit and all of her salad with ranch dressing and her spaghetti.

Morgan has been so full of random loves for both Gary and I lately!  It is great.  She just give her hugs then goes right back to playing.  It isn't when there is anything bugging her or anything, just having love surges, I guess!

Another thing we have really been focusing on is helping Morgan listen when the other kiddos ask her to "Move back" or do the 'move back' sign.  She is kind of an in-your-space kind of kiddo (which many of them are at this age and stage) which can lead to conflict.  If she can learn to respond to the kiddos cues, it will make her life and the other kiddos easier!

I think it is so interesting what triggers her (and the other kiddos too) sometimes.  Today Gary went out to the utility room to get something and came back in.  He asked her to move back away from the gate (which she usually does immediately with no problem).  Today she just melted down, threw herself to the floor, flopped backwards and started just howling.  Goofy girl!  It didn't last very long, but...  ??

Several times the last couple days Gary has passed gas and Morgan has responded with a "whoop!" or "uh-oh!" and/or a chuckle.  I don't remember having a kiddo respond quite this young!  : )  Even if he can be a little stinker, she still really likes him.  Every time Gary is on the floor or the step under the big window she comes over to him and either sits on his lap or by him, lounging against him.  It is really cute.

3/3/2011

Morgan ate all of her blueberries and raisin english muffins at breakfast.  At lunch she ate a bite of her potato salad, a couple bites of canned cherries and all of her chicken on crackers.

Morgan didn't have any melt downs today!  I think it is so interesting when the kiddos have such a hard time one day and then next it be great.  Not that I am complaining, or anything!  : )

I put together all of the velcro fruits and vegetables first thing this morning and Morgan found one of the play knives and was working hard to "cut" them apart.  She got a couple by herself, but brought many of them over to me to "help" her with.  I would just hold the fruit or vegetable and she would stick the knife in the crack and "cut" it apart.  She just had a difficult time keeping the fruit or vegetable from running away while she was trying to cut it.

I put on one of the dance CDs today for the toddlers while the bigger kiddos were outside getting soaked and muddy.  One of the songs on it was Cotton Eyed Joe and you should have seen Morgan dancing to it!  It was great!  She danced to some of the other ones too, but that one was classic!  : )

3/2/2011

Morgan ate a bite of her peaches and all of her biscuit at breakfast.  At lunch she ate about half of her dinner roll and all of her baked beans, steamed broccoli and pineapple tidbits.

Morgan was quite testy today.  She had three tantrums by 9:15 and lots of moaning, whining and frowning in addition.  One of the things she has been doing is just plopping down when I am holding her hand and walking with her.  She will be walking along just fine and suddenly she will get angry about something and down she goes.  So far, I have only known what has triggered it once.  Since both of my shoulders have some damage to them, I am very careful with them and can feel that the pulling is NOT being good for them.  Because of that, I have started not holding her hand, but putting my hand on the back of her head gently instead to guide her.

Today Morgan went over to Jadey with a frown on her face and started hitting her (out of the blue).  They hadn't been interacting at all beforehand.  I sternly said her name and her face changed and she started giving her gentle touches.

When Kenzie woke up from her morning nap and I brought her out to play, Morgan was about beside herself.  She was giving her loves, making little squeaky sounds, and saying "Hi!  Hi!  Hi!" to her.  She was just so glad to see her!

Hey!  I heard her say "mama" several times when she was talking on the phone today.  I think that is the first time I am sure that it was what she was saying!

3/ 1/2011

Morgan ate all of her hashbrowns and seconds on waffles at breakfast.   At lunch she ate no shrimp (wouldn't even try it), a taste of colored sauteed peppers and a bite of oranges and all of her brown rice.

Morgan had a brief melt-down at about 8:30 when I asked her to do something and she didn't want to.  I used the "Tell-Show-Help-Praise" technique, which is something we use often.  I told her to do it first, then I pointed to what I wanted her to do.  When she still didn't do it, I actually helped her do it then told her thank you and that she didn't need to fuss about it.  She fussed for maybe another minute or two then was fine.

I have noticed that Morgan has gone from doing 3-4 bowel movements a day to 1 or 2 here.  For a while we were flying through the diapers and wipes because of it, but it has slowed down lately.  Still, she is almost out of wipes in the big room and she only has 4 diapers left.

Morgan spends much of our big room time with one of the flip phones in hand or up to her ear.  Sometimes she is "talking on it" and others just carrying it around.  I hear her say "hi!" frequently and sometimes it sounds like daddy or one of the kiddos names (Kenzie, Jadey).

She and Joslyn had a very interesting interaction today.  They were both sitting on one of the little yellow benches and kind of battling for position.  They were yelling at each other pretty intensely for a few seconds.  The next thing I know they are hugging each other and Joslyn is kind of using Morgan as a push cart to walk with (meaning Morgan is walking backward and Joslyn forward in an embrace).  After about 5 steps, they tumble over backwards with Joslyn on top.  That in itself was funny enough, but then they get up and do it all over again (this time for about 8 steps before the tackle)!  Crazy kiddos!  : )

2/28/2011

Morgan ate all of her cheerios and banana at breakfast.  At lunch she ate bites of her apple bits and seconds on both tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwich.

Morgan loved it when Keenan went over and started talking to her and playing alongside and with her this morning.  One of the things he was doing is laying his head in her lap and saying, "My pillow!"  She loved that and kept chuckling.

Almost every morning now Morgan enthusiastically exclaims "Yea!!!" when Gary says it is time for breakfast. That just cracks me up.

Morgan was kind of enthralled with Gary today.  She followed him around quite a bit, give him several hugs and kept him in her line of sight almost the whole time we were together.  The cutest thing I saw was right after breakfast.  Gary helped her clean up and hopped her over the gate to come play with the other kiddos and I.  She raced over to me, pointing backwards and saying, "Gary... Gary..." very plainly.  : )

Gary was brushing his teeth on the outside of the gate today and Morgan and Connor were over there watching.  He got right down at their level with foam all around and in his mouth and Morgan LOVED it.  She did her really deep chuckle for quite a while.  That was cute enough, but then Connor started trying to imitate that deep chuckle and Gary and I just roared!  : )
