6/21/12

Morgan ate thirds on grapes and seconds on cinnamon toast at breakfast.  At lunch she ate all of her fried potatoes, chicken strips, about half of her dinner roll and cherries.

Morgan was very loving today and wanted to "cuddle" quite a bit.  I was chilly after breakfast so I went and got a blanket to put over me.  Alayna and Morgan were both right there asking to cuddle and cover up with the blanket.  I decided to take advantage of that and we had an impromptu story time a little earlier than usual, just because everyone wanted to be covered up on the couch with my blanket!

Thomas is going to start trying to nap on a nap mat today and Gary was telling Thomas about it. Morgan was so excited about it and told it it would be "fun"!  : )

Morgan had me put a band aid on her finger today.  She said she hurt it on the deck at home.  There are actually three fingers that have owies on them, but only one was bugging her.

Morgan really likes to push the merry-go-round with her friends on it.  She is pretty tough also because she can push it when it is pretty loaded down with friends.

6/20/12

Morgan ate all of her peaches and most of her whole wheat bagel at breakfast.  At lunch she ate seconds on corn and all of her ham and cheese sandwich and her salad with ranch.

Morgan was so funny when she was waving 'bye' at you guys this morning.  She wanted to have one of our teddy bears wave "Bye" to squishy bear.  When she went to the window she said "bye" in her regular voice, like she does every morning,  then she started waving the teddy bear's hand and lowered her voice into a kind of growling "bye" for the bear.  It just cracked me up!  ; )

Morgan was very engaged in playing with the dolls for quite a while this morning.  She started off doing it independently (she was the only one on that side of the room even.  After a little Kenzie went over and joined her.  They were feeding the babies with a spoon, holding them close, wrapping them up, putting them to "bed" in front of the mirror and talking to them.  It was really sweet to watch.

Morgan was thrilled that Coral was here today.  She spent quite a bit of time cuddled up to her, playing with her or watching what she was doing.  I love it and can still remember times when I was absolutely enthralled by my older cousins when we would all get together.  For them 7 years is a LOT!

We got a new book about counting kisses from Paperbackswap.com yesterday afternoon and I read it to them for the first time today.  It counts down numbers of kisses and every time I read the number, I would them make kiss-kiss sounds that number of times.  The kiddos all loved it!

6/19/12

Morgan ate about half of her blueberry muffin at breakfast and all of her pears.  At lunch she ate everything -- tuna on crackers, sweet potatoes and fresh oranges.

Morgan was a bit helper this morning.  I had too many things going on last night and I didn't get the meals prepared to today so I was trying to do it before everyone came this morning.  Morgan was thrilled and actually helped a LOT.  She helped me through things in the trash, got containers and lids for me, put stuff away in the fridge and more.  She was disappointed when we were done!  : )

Morgan was playing with the teddy bears again today and suddenly said, "Oh look!  Mommy bear holding her baby!"   Sure enough, she was making the big bear wrap her arms around the little one.  What cracked me up about it was the way she said it.  It made it sound like she had nothing to do with it!  : )  Also while playing with the bears she was trying to give Kenzie a lesson on different types of bears.  the funny things about THAT was that she was talking about Koala Bears and Polar bears and I don't think we have any of those out right now!  : )  Another bear play thing she and Kenzie did was to line (then layer) them up in front of the changing table and discuss which ones matched and why.

That lead to a conversation on us as people and how we "matched" and were different or the same.  We talked about how we all had two hands, a nose, two ears... and some of us had one color hair and others another, polish on or not, buttons on our shirts or not, jeans or stretch pants, different colored eyes.  The kiddos were really into it.  It was great!

Morgan put on one of the dress-up shirts and a pair of dark sunglasses, then went over to the picnic table and stood on the bench part with an ice cream cone in her hand for a microphone and sang the "Star Spangled Banner" accurately enough that Gary could tell what it was.  We were pretty impressed!  : )  Preparing for one of the games next year, maybe!

6/18/12

Morgan ate almost all of her Chex cereal and a bite of her fruit salad at breakfast.  At lunch she ate all of her tomato soup, most of her roast beef sandwich and a couple bites of her apple.

Morgan was so funny today with her Monte hat.  She kept it with her until almost breakfast time, when she wanted to put it in her cubby "so no one get it".  : )  She was pulling it down over her head so that it looked like her head WAS Monte's head.  So funny!  : )

Gary was sitting on the couch today getting ready to feed Nora her bottle and Morgan went over to him with a teddy bear in her hands, saying "Do you want a bear?"  At first Gary said, "No thank you!" thinking she wanted him to play with it, then he realized that she had remembered that he kept using one as a support for his lower back last week and that was what she was offering.  (It was the exact bear that he preferred for the best support too, of course).  Nothing gets by our Morgan!  : )  It was really sweet and he really appreciated and loved it!

Alayna kept asking for her favorite "Ring of Fire" song today.  She had been gone all of last week, so I decided to play it to welcome her back.  The kiddos all went over to the mattress area and were jumping and dancing like crazy to it.  When it was done, Morgan came over to me, gave me a hug and said, "That was a fun song!"  : )

Morgan was being kind of silly a couple times today and walking different ways.  The craziest I saw was her walking on her toes, which isn't that unusual, except she had the toes actually bent under so she was literally "walking on her toes".  Ouch!

6/15/12

Morgan ate all of her oatmeal and prunes at breakfast.  At lunch she ate about half of her biscuit and all of her mandarin oranges and hashbrown casserole.

We had squirrels on the street, neighborhood trees and lines all morning today.  They must have been excited and taking advantage of the sunshine also!  : ) The kiddos really enjoyed watching them chasing each other and just running around like crazy.

Morgan continued to play with stuffed bears today.  Her favorite game with them today was to have one of the big ones "carry" one of the babies around.  She carefully wrapped the arms of the big bear around the littler one and held them tight.  She told me, "the Mommy bot him!"   It was very sweet!

Morgan loves to find "match"-ing stuff.  It can be everything from bears to goggles to spoons to bowls, to clothes and on and on.  It is great because now there are about three others that really pay attention to her when she is talking about it and can also identify when something "matches".

Today Morgan was pulling one of the camp hats down over her face and said, "Hey!  Where'd me go?"  I thought that was such a cute was to word that.  She was also using the camp hat for the "dolly bed" later on in the morning.  It is amazing how many purposes an item can have when you let your imagination go!  : )  Sometimes I wish we kept more of that as we got older!

6/14/12

Morgan ate seconds on french bread and all of her cantaloupe at breakfast.  At lunch she ate thirds on dried mangoes and all of her sliced turkey, crescent roll and squash.

Morgan was so excited that I had put up the Tucker the Turtle poster and the Relaxation Thermometer again.  We also got the stuffed turtle down, read the Tucker book and talked about what he does and why for quite a while.  I gave each of them a mini scenario and asked them if they should (do it the wrong way) and Morgan was adamant that she shouldn't, then I asked what she should do instead and she thought for a couple seconds and said "Think and make a good choice!"  : )  Now if we can just consistently put it in practice!  : )

Morgan was looking at the same Clifford book that she was yesterday and, again, was just chuckling.  Her favorite pages today were when he was "being the school bus" and when he was "going to sleep".

Morgan (and the rest of the kiddos) were thrilled with the new sunglasses that "fit me" and the goggles.  Several of both had been broken the last couple times we had them out and a couple of the remaining sunglasses has gotten so stretched out from them pulling on them that they wouldn't stay on any of their heads anymore.  It was time for new ones!  : )

Morgan was spinning around in her "Hello Kitty" dress today and chanting, "Hel-lo Kid-dy!"  over and over again.  Kenzie and Peyton started chanting with her!

6/13/12

Morgan ate all of her whole wheat toast and the blueberries out of her mixed berries at breakfast.  At lunch she ate thirds on saltines, seconds on bean soup and all of her ham and kiwi.

Morgan was reading and laughing at the Clifford the Big Red Dog book we have out right now.  It shows different pictures of Clifford being a helper to Emily Elizabeth's school friends.  He is holding a swing in his mouth for them to swing on and giving them rids on his back and so forth.  I guess it must have hit her funny bone.  I asked her if she thought it was funny and she said, "Ya, REALLY funny!"  : )

Gary didn't do something quite right this morning and Morgan just screamed at him.  Joslyn and Jadey were both close by and both of them started crying and saying, "Morgan scarin' me!"  I don't know if it was directly because of that or just because, but the episode didn't last very long at all.

Morgan and Kenzie were playing together on one side of the room and Morgan kept saying, "all right, guys?"  That just cracked me up because Kenzie was the only one around!  While they were playing together on the mattress and climber area, Kenzie kept trying to get Morgan to jump off of the climber and onto her back (on the mattress).  I vetoed the plan, much to Kenzie's dismay!
