Morgan ate really well today. She ate all of her cinnamon raisin english muffin and couple bites of pears at breakfast. At lunch she ate seconds on pea pasta salad and applesauce and all of her baked tilapia fish. She did no pointing or whining when I gave her her tray and plate, so that also was awesome.
Morgan was saying "Hi!" to everyone multiple times today. It didn't matter if it was one of the kiddos, a parent or us, she was just quite friendly. : )
She didn't get fussy until right before breakfast this morning. When she saw the tray of food go out to be set up, she had a pretty good tantrum, hoping that would help speed it up, I guess! : ) It didn't and she was a little angry for about 5 minutes until it was ready, but she survived. She had a couple other brief fussy times, but not the longer periods that were pretty constant last week.
One of the times that she fussed was when she kept trying to stand on the couch after I had put her up there with the book she was wanting to read. I reminded her to sit down, then helped her do it twice. When she tried it again I moved her to the floor and said, "Standing is for the floor!" Oh my goodness! She was not happy at me! She plopped herself down, howling, threw the book she had in her hand and gave me quite the look. I just moved away from her and didn't reward the attention and she was done in a minute or so.
Morgan loves carrying about the curlers. She had one in her hand most of the big room time this morning. One set of them is kind of pokey so has an interesting feel and the other kind has water in it, so they can be warmed and used kind of like hot rollers. She carried both of them and shook the watery one up by her ear as if doing it so she could hear it slosh around.
We have a couple books with music buttons on them out with this set of toys. Morgan was looking at one of them and pushing the buttons over and over today.

Morgan had an awesome morning with literally no fussy times at all from the time she got here until nap time! It is amazing what being well rested will do for a kiddo! : )
She had a blast exploring all of the "new" toy exchange stuff. She especially liked looking through the new set of books and bringing them over to the couch to "read".
She also tried out the pop-up toasters, the flip frying pans and a lot of the food toys (as you can see her munching on some toast in the top picture. I was extremely surprised when I tried to put one of the curlers in her hair that she actually seemed to want me to put it in. Then she left it in for a long time. She never did mess with it or try to take it out. It just eventually fell out during the course of play. After I had taken each picture of her, I showed it to her. She had the same response every time. She looked and then did a cute little chuckle! : )

Morgan ate all of her malt-o-meal and strawberries at breakfast after howling like crazy to begin with. Silly girl! : ) At lunch she ate a bite of salad, about half of her mixed fruit and seconds on spaghetti.
Morgan must have heard us talking today and decided she mind's well be happy since she wasn't pulling the wool over any of our eyes. : ) She only had a brief fussy time before breakfast and really none afterwards. After she was done being fussy, she was poopy and I got thinking about it and her fussy morning times are almost always close to her poops -- maybe there is a correlation?
Morgan read quite a few books on the couch. She is still doing her little pat-pat-pat or point to the couch cushion when she wants to have help up to read. It is really cute. She is also really starting to try to get up by herself, but it is still just a little bit too tall.
She and Connor were giving each other great loves today. She was also laughing at him when he was being goofy, spinning and dancing around like a wild man. She seems to think his antics are pretty funny and he is so excited that she watches and laughs at him.
She was sitting on the big window step again today and looking at and talking to herself in that little mirror. I didn't hear her saying her name today, but she was really jabbering. It is great fun to watch. She was also peaking up and down and from side to side and grinning when her face came into view.

Morgan ate seconds on french toast, but refused to have any cantaloupe at breakfast. At lunch she ate all of her crackers, about half of her cabbage (raw shreds), bites of turkey and no canned cherries. I have noticed that she has become a lot more selective about eating lately. She used to eat just about anything.
Jadey was playing with a little care-bear this morning and Morgan started to walk over to her. Jadey started to yell at her and clutched the bear to herself, then she got a change of look on her face and handed it to Morgan with a very sweet look. Morgan loved it and strutted around proudly. Jadey doesn't give up her toys for just anyone, you know! : )
Morgan was giving the kiddos loves today. Connor, Jadey, Everson, Kenzie and Bode all got their turns. Connor got several turns throughout the morning, of course.
I put on some music at one of Morgan's fussy times today and that seemed to help a little. It deferred it for about another 20 minutes. After observing for the last several days, there seems to be a pattern. From 8:30 to 9:00 (probably getting hungry) she is pretty fussy. Usually about a 30-50 minute stretch about 20 minutes after breakfast (maybe kind of tired, although she isn't usually showing other signs -- rubbing eyes, yawning...) and then again a little after 4:00 until pick-up time. She usually eats a good snack, drinks either her cup or a water bottle and had been napping well. So I am not sure about this time, other than that she is just getting ready to go home. One the weekend or other days at home, does she have any of these fussy times, or is this just unique to here? Do you have any ideas as to how to help her be more happy and satisfied? It seems like it is hard on both her and the other kiddos -- a couple will walk around with their ears covered when it is the worst. I don't want you to think I feel it is unmanageable, but if there is something I can do differently, I would love insight... : )

Morgan only ate a bite of peaches but made up for it by eating three biscuits at breakfast. At lunch she ate all of her roll and pineapple, most of her baked beans and a bite of broccoli.
Morgan was sitting on the step under the window and visiting with herself in the little mirror that is on the end of the dress-up clothes deal. It really sounded like she said, "Hi Morgie!" during the course of her conversation! : )
Morgan was repeatedly climbing up the soft climber and bailing off on to the mattress with a plop and lots of chuckles today. She was really enjoying it, even when no one else was around, but when Connor came over and started laughing at (or with) her, she really kicked it up a notch! : )
She was pretty fussy after breakfast again today. It seems like that is a time that she just isn't very happy often -- probably just still on the verge of needing that morning nap. Anyway, I decided to put her in her crib with her blanket to see if that helped her settle down. She lay in there for about 12 minutes and did do a little better after that for a while.
Today when Morgan was sitting on the couch and "reading" books she started putting them behind her back when she was done. Almost every kiddos goes through a stage of doing that because they are imitating what I do at story time when I am reading them 'special' books that i don't want them grabbing before story time is over. I lean up and put them behind my back to protect them. She has obviously observed that and was copying what she had seen!

Morgan ate seconds on both dried apricots and whole wheat bagel at breakfast. At lunch she ate no shrimp, about half of her brown rice and a bite of her mandarin oranges and her sauteed peppers. With the food program eliminating some of the kiddos favorites we are going to be playing around with the menus for a while to try to find some good alternatives. She was really the only one that didn't care for this one so far.
Morgan has graduated from stepping off of the soft climber onto the mattress to just kind of diving onto it. She starts laughing even before she takes of in anticipation. It is pretty cute. Bode was a little nervous when he saw her do it, but when she landed and was still chuckling, he chuckled too and said, "She like it!" : )
Everson and Morgan both wanted on my lap today, so I was holding one on each side. Morgan leaned over, wrapped her arms around his neck and gave him a really nice love, not just once, but three times. Everson was thrilled and announced, "She like me!" : )
Morgan was kind of fussy off and on this morning. I decided to try letting her cuddle with her blanket (rather than a binky) to see if that would comfort her some. It did and she came to cuddle with me and the blanket about 4 or 5 times this morning. I have officially moved Morgan's crib out into the big room and she is napping there now, so that crimps the morning naps. : ) Kenzie's parents are wanting her to "cry it out" to learn to self sooth a little and I didn't want that affecting Morgan's naps any more, so... She did great with it yesterday and is doing great again today so far. : )
Everson bonked his chin when he was playing today and came over asking "Kiss it better?" Morgan immediately leaned up with her mouth open to kiss him. It was really cute and Everson was fine with it. It made it all better, so she must have the touch. : )

Morgan ate all of her banana and cheerios at breakfast. At lunch she ate all of her grilled cheese sandwich half, about half of her apple bits and a few sips of tomato soup.
Morgan went over to Bode and gave him such a nice love today. It was his first day back after leaving on vacation the Wednesday before Christmas. She must have missed him. : ) She and Connor also had their usual multiple greeting and loves time. She is a very loving little girl.
Speaking of being loving, she came over and wanted up after breakfast. Not only that, but she sat there and cuddled with me for about 10 minutes before getting down and being on her usual little busy way. She also had a cuddle time in the back room (but only for about 5 minutes that time). I would like to think it is just because she loves me so much and missed me after the 3-day weekend, but I did see her poking her right ear a couple times, so it could be that it is still bugging her a little.
Morgan was carrying around one of the knee pads we have out with this Sports set of dress-up clothes. She handed it to me so I just lay it on top of my head to begin with. I then helped her lay it on her own head. She really chuckled about that and repeated it several times. I then helped her put it over her arm and she laughed aloud, whirled around and took off at a near run across the room. She is so cute!
