We had a very busy and kind of crazy morning so personal notes will
be limited today (as I didn't have much time to closely observe and take
notes).
The morning started out with me not setting
my alarm close correctly, so I didn't get up in time to put away the old
toy exchange and make sure the new one was totally in place. I hate
that feeling when I wake up and have slept in. It is not the tone I
like to set for the day. : ( I did rush around and get things moved
OUT of the big room, but just piled, not put away and I didn't have time
to ensure everything was out that needed to be and in its right spots.
Missy brings out the new stuff, but doesn't always know where
everything goes and frequently doesn't do the stuffed animals and
dolls.
We had a surprise monitoring visit from our food program sponsor,
which isn't a big deal, but I have to say I was a little flustered just
because I didn't have things as tidy looking as I like and so forth.
It also means that I have to find the paperwork they need to make sure
is up to date and show them where the fridge and freezer thermometers
are so they can check for appropriate temperatures...
In
addition to those extras we were trying to begin the new round of
intensive potty training! We have the two who are already 100% trained
and the four we are working with now... I'm glad Morgan already has that under her belt. We are doing a sticker chart for her (and Jadey) anyway just because it didn't feel fair not to.
The kiddos really enjoyed putting stickers on their papers for art today and worked hard to get some all over their papers.
So
we survived the morning -- late start, unplanned visitor, extra trips
to the bathroom, one peeing accident on the floor, one whole bowl of
spilled cereal on the floor, quite a bit of Monday transition tears and
frustrations, several other minor mishaps and all! : )

5/11/12
Morgan ate seconds on malt-o-meal and raisins at breakfast. At lunch she ate all of her dinner roll and meatloaf, about half of her mashed potatoes and a bite of her fruit salad.
Morgan's melt-down this morning really was quite brief. It was all over and she was wanting to cuddle in less than 5 minutes. She also did fine the rest of the morning, with only a couple near misses. ; ) I tried to be very proactive -- focusing on good choices she made, intervening as early as possible and just keeping on my toes. She was asleep very quickly, which coordinates with what you said about it being a rough night last nigh, so...
Kenzie and Morgan vacillated between playing great together and being in each other's space and face like crazy today. They really do have a love-hate relationship and I never know which it will be from the initial contact. : ) Today they played great together when they were building with the duplos, but could NOT sit together while they were looking at books because they were grabbing, screaming and hitting at each other.
Morgan watched Emily and Jadey pretend they were puppies for a while this morning and laughed at their antics. After a couple minutes of watching, she was right there with them with antics of her own!
Morgan enjoyed doing several puzzles this morning and was very enthusiastic about both her and Kenzie's successes! : )

All of the bigger kiddos were very excited that Bode came to visit for a
couple hours this morning. His big brother, Tate, had a program at
school that he was going to go to and mom needed to go into work but
didn't want to run him across town for just a short period then pick him
up for the program. Bode is so great with the littler kiddos and did a
wonderful job of entertaining them and leading them in some fun play.
He was teaching them some new stunts on the climber and mattress,
"reading" to them, building with the big blocks and Duplos with them and
showing them what letters the ABC banner had on them. It was great!
Joslyn told me she wanted to snuggle today and Morgan was immediately there saying, "me too because I'm having a hard time". She really had been doing just fine as far as I could tell so it cracked me up. Regardless she got to snuggle too! : )
Morgan did very good all day when she started to struggle. I was giving a choice between three things a couple different times and that seemed to be more appealing to her. One of the times when it didn't appear that it was going to work, I also started asking the other kiddos which choice that would make if they were the ones decided. Morgan listened intently, calmed down and made an excellent choice.
Morgan was playing with several of the little people in the back room this morning and she had them all positioned into a circle. She told Kenzie, "They all talking". It must have been a group meeting of some type!

Morgan ate all of her peaches and biscuit at breakfast. At lunch she ate all of her baked beans, steamed broccoli, a couple bites of dinner roll and her tasting bite of her pineapple.
Morgan and Jadey were very engaged in cover and uncovering each other first thing this morning. At first it started out that they were tucking each other in as they played like they were going to sleep. It then moved to covering each other's face and pulling it off to "boo" at them. Then it progressed into just covering their face and the laying person popped up and "scared" the cover-er. It was pretty fun to observe.
Kenzie and Morgan also played together a lot this morning. They were pretending that the stuffed characters were their "babies" and they were taking care of them and taking them to various different places (the doctor, the store, the office, Costco, home...). Morgan had a little Donald Duck and a Timone from Lion King and Kenzie had two Elmos as their babies.
They also were in a line on the climber steps again doing the shoulder massages for the one sitting in front of them. Joslyn and Emily also joined them for that and they traded spots a few times. Most of the time Emily was massaging Joslyn, Joslyn massaging Kenzie and Kenzie doing Morgan. I decided that Morgan had the right idea -- get the benefits without the work! :; )

I am combining Monday and Tuesday because Gary wasn't feeling very well on Monday so I was a little too focused on the whole group to take many notes for my specific group.
Morgan told us about having a "grumpy bear" at home so many times today. She also renewed her interest in wanting to go our and cuddle with our grumpy bear. Morgan made it sound so important that both Kenzie and Emily decided they wanted "grumpy bears" too. : )
Morgan and several of the other kiddos were playing like they were looking for and catching "bumble bees" inside and out. They could cup air in their hands and say it was a bumble bee. Morgan became very upset when Jadey went over to her cupped hands and put her own around then then said she had "Morgan's bumble bee". I had to comfort her then have Jadey bring "it" back to her! : ) It is so funny how something pretend like that can be so 'real' in their minds.
Morgan was cuddled up in the over-sized chair today with her stack of books, "reading" for about 30 minutes. She didn't want anyone to "read" with her and she was so focused that she really didn't seem aware of what else was going on around her.
I was singing songs about the different stuffed animals that are out again today and Morgan kept bringing me character after character and saying, "Do this one".

Morgan and Kenzie were playing with the stuffed animals again today and they were going into the little corner area by the changing table at the food of the mattress. Morgan kept calling calling it the "Care Station". I think I vaguely remember that being a part of the "Care Bears" show, but I haven't seen it since Missy was little so that was a lot of years ago!
Morgan was also walking around telling everyone that the Elmo stuffed character was "my sister". Kenzie tried to talk her out of that telling her that only she had a sister and her name was "Riley Roo". Morgan was insistent, so Kenzie finally bought into it and was calling Elmo Morgan's sister too.
After breakfast Kenzie asked Morgan for help with her sleeves. Morgan wasn't really paying attention so I offered to do it for her instead. She looked at me like I had totally lost it and said, "No, My friend Morgie do it!" When Morgan heard it put that way, she did it immediately. : )

Morgan was dressing up in the sports clothing out right now a lot this morning. She was also doing a lot of talk about "my team" and "practice". I don't think I have every had any other kiddos every mention practice (at least not in that form). She makes great appropriate applications.
We already talked about the major tantrum that happened via email and in person so I won't go into that. I just mentioned it to document the date. One thing that I did think about after our meeting was that music is another thing that seems to sooth her, especially two specific songs -- baby beluga and Twinkle.
Morgan and several of the kiddos were sitting at the little picnic table pretending to eat and she tipped backward off the seat and onto the floor on purpose. She and all of the other kiddos laughed hard. She then had to repeat it multiple times. Emily tried to imitate her but ended up actually falling off and wasn't so sure that was funny!
