4/5/12

Morgan ate about half of her blueberries and most of her blueberry bread pudding at breakfast.  At lunch she ate all of her kiwi and her turkey burger on a bun and a few green beans.

Morgan created a play theme using the doll cradle as a car this morning.  She asked Kenzie to join her and they got in and Morgan announced, "I go coffee store".  It is so funny to watch what the kiddos pick up from us, as adults.  As I was watching Kenzie, Jadey and Morgan stroll around the play room with a phone in one hand and a set of keys in the other I thought of how representative it is of life today.  We almost always have a phone in hand or close by, coffee within reach and keys because we are so busy going, going, going...

Morgan had an excellent morning.  She was a great listener and just very peaceful, engaged and sweet.  I did stay within about 3 feet of where she was playing most of the time just in case, but she had literally no incidents even close to yesterdays.

Jadey made her usual "Story Time!" announcement today and Morgan stopped what she was doing, looked like she was thinking about it, then answered "No, I still playin'!"  I thought that was pretty good.

Morgan saw a couple walking their two dogs in front of out big window today.  She came over to talk about the dogs for a minute then said, "My Cubby's not feeling good.  They can't fix him."  Ohhhh....  : (  She really didn't seem upset about it, just matter of fact and a little sad.

4/4/12

Morgan ate all of her whole wheat toast with jelly and had thirds on dried mangoes at breakfast.  At lunch she ate all of her beef and bean burrito, most of her sweet potatoes and about half of her tropical fruit.

Morgan was so excited when I told her I would help her do the "matching puzzle".  It is a set of 10 or 12 pairs.  Each pair matches (big and little dog, car, bear...).  I don't have it down all the time because none of the other kiddos can get it and it frustrates them.  She did an excellent job on it and wanted to do it over and over.  I think she ended up doing it 5 times before moving on to something else.

Morgan had a couple testy times this morning.  Both were about 10 minutes long and both right before meals (BK and LU).  It seems logical that the timing was related.

Morgan had one of the play flip phones and was holding it up and "taking pictures" of Emily and Alayna doing "back flips" on the mattress.  She was really into it -- cheering for them and "taking lots of pictures".  Every once in a while she would stop and look intently at the camera display and said, "Oh cute!".  One of the times she said that, Emily came over saying, "Me see!  Me see!"  Morgan showed her and Emily was very disappointed that there wasn't really a picture of her on the screen.  Morgan made it look so fun that soon Kenzie and Joslyn were imitating what she was doing.  It was really cute!

4/3/12

Morgan ate all of her prunes and thirds on cinnamon rolls at breakfast.  At lunch she ate all of her hashbrowns and waffles, and a bite of cantaloupe and her scrambled eggs.

Morgan was cuddling one of the stuffed bears for quite a while today.  She was patting him on the back and saying, "Ohhh!  He crying!"

She and Kenzie were having some issues -- always seeming to want the same EXACT today then yelling, grabbing or pushing at each other to try to gain/keep possession of it.  I had to do a lot of intervention.

Morgan read and re-read the "Baby Beluga" book multiple times.  She really likes it and knows which pictures represent which words for many pages.  She and Emily also really like one specific picture in the book where it looks like the beluga whale is laughing.  : )

As you well know, Morgan loves talking about things matching.  Today it seemed like it was everything -- the three pairs of teddy bears that are the same, the little cars in the back, the same colored duplo pieces, and various pieces of clothing.

4/2/12

Morgan ate all of her cereal and a bite of her fruit at breakfast.  At lunch she ate all of her ham sandwich and
steamed broccoli, and bites of mandarin oranges.

Everyone was thrilled that it was toy exchange today and had to spend a large portion of the morning just exploring it to see what all was out and how everything worked.

First thing today, Kenzie and Morgan each got a staple gun and started "fixing" the big animal poster.  They were really working on it for quite a while.

Morgan was playing with the "new" dolls and the cradles.  She was also taking the doll's clothes off and trying to put them back on again.  That was frustrating her some when it wouldn't come off (or go on) the right away.  She asked Jadey then Kenzie to help her and Jadey was able to help for one of them, but couldn't get the other without adult help.

Morgan was thrilled when Missy came to sub for Gary for an hour-and-a-half while he went to get his driver's license renewed.  She did singing and story reading with them and then got down the scarves for then to dance with.  Missy is very dramatic, so the singing and dancing was a hit!

3/30/12

Morgan ate almost all of her rice and raisins at breakfast.  At lunch she ate all of her meatloaf and apricots, and a couple bites of cooked carrots and french bread.

Morgan was thrilled when Jadey's sister, Emily, stayed to help this morning.  The first thing they did was to ask her if she would do "rosies" with them.  She is very good with the kiddos and did it several times.  Morgan spent most of the morning showing off for Emily or just hanging out with her.  She was showing off by "reading" her stories and by showing how well she could do "back flips" on the mattress.  Emily was duly impressed, which made Morgan's day.

It was a busy day, but everything went well.

3/29/12

Morgan ate all of her cinnamon toast and most of her grapes at breakfast.  At lunch she ate all of her chicken strips, dinner roll and mashed potatoes and a bite of her canned cherries.

Morgan played with the dolls a lot this morning, both with other kiddos and all by herself.  She announced to me, "Baby's poopy!"  She then lay out a blanket on the floor, lay the doll on it, lifted the bottom of the doll up in the air, wiped at his bottom several times then put the doll back down, wrapped her up and said she was "all clean!"

She was also putting her doll into the head-part of the fire hats, saying it was the baby's "car seat".  She was also just laying and wrapping, dumping it out and then repeating the motions frequently.  When I kind of gasped as she dumped the baby out on its head, but Morgan assured me the "she okay" and "I will take care of her!"

Morgan and I both had cats on our shirts.  Hers was "hello Kitty" and mine were just two cats.  I thought it was so funny when I told her we matched and she emphatically shook her head "no" and said, "but they kinda different!"  She is too smart for me!  : )

Morgan was trying to put the neck brace on her head like a crown today, but it just kept popping off since it was too tight.  Morgan verbalized it by, "Hy head's too big today!"  : )

3/28/12

Morgan ate all of her whole wheat mini bagel and a bite of peaches at breakfast.  At lunch she ate all of her corn, salad with ranch and macaroni and cheese (homemade) and a bite or two of her ham.

Kenzie, Morgan and Jadey were all pretending they were riding on a "school bus".  One of them (Morgan, I think) saw a school bus go by the big window and that is what started the whole thing.  When I asked where they were going on the school bus, they said to "Costco" so I don't think they quite get what school buses are for, but it was really cute.  They were using the climber/balance bean and were all sitting on the beam with their faces toward the wall for the bus.

I facilitated some "lunch" play at the little picnic table (helping them set the table with plates, cups, spoons and food).  All the kiddos participated briefly, but Morgan and Kenzie stayed long after I had moved away.  Both of them were pretending to eat one of the play carrots.  Morgan was calling it hers a "lollipop" and Kenzie said it was "my spindach".  I am assuming that was 'spinach' but not sure, since we don't serve spinach here.

Morgan was doing her great "backflips" again today and them coming over to give me five while saying, "Morgie team!"  Obviously Thomas and Alayna were observing what she was doing because they would also do some great gymnastics feat on the mattress then race over for their high five!  : )

Morgan and Jadey were sitting by each other and whispering in each other's ears today. When I see something like this it always makes me wonder what they are saying!  : )
