12/23/11

Morgan ate all of her prunes and only one bite of oatmeal at breakfast today.  At lunch she only had a bite or everything then said she was done.  We had hashbrown casserole, biscuit and mandarin oranges.

Morgan loved hanging out with Gary and I in the kitchen and living room as we did some extra prep for our Christmas Eve's Eve Party tonight.  We have several friends that don't have family in town so we are having them over this evening.  Morgan really thought she was big stuff!

Today when Gary came back into the big room after using the bathroom, Morgan had the sweetest look on her face and said, "There my Gary friend!"  It was adorable!

Morgan was quite disappointed this morning when she tried to give Thomas a love and he actually pushed her away.  Thomas ALWAYS wants loves and we think it is because he got shots yesterday, so was a little out of sorts.  Morgan had a very disappointed look on her face.

Morgan was looking outside at the sky while I was feeding baby Nora her bottle.  She got all excited and came back saying "Cwoudy out, Cwoudy out!" and pointing at our weather wheel.  I told her I would help her switch it as soon as I was done feeding the baby.  She went back over to the window and looked out for a while longer.  I thought she had forgotten about it and couldn't figure out why she kept asking me "You done now?" a couple minutes later.  Sure enough, as soon as I finished feeding Nora, she pointed back at the weather wheel and said, "Cwoudy out!"  She is such a smart little one!

Have a very merry Christmas!

12/21/11

Morgan ate all of her mixed berries and seconds on whole wheat toast at breakfast.  At lunch she ate about half of her ham and all of her bean soup, saltines and kiwi.

Morgan was so cute dancing with one of the big bears when I put on the CD.  She was twirling with it, swaying it back and forth and even making its hands clap.

Morgan was quite testy before breakfast today and kept trying to take other kiddo's toys until we finally had her take a little break by herself.  She did much better after that -- especially when it came to listening when we reminded her to let go and find another toy.

Morgan asked to "nuggle" after breakfast today and while she was sitting with me, I was taking some notes on my kiddos for journals.  Morgan watched for a while then asked what I was doing.  I told her "writing down what the kiddos have been doing."  She then asked, "Morgan being turkey?"  It kind of blew me away!  She is so smart!

Morgan got it in her head that it would be fun to hang all of the purses up on a couple of the dress-up hooks.  She wanted to have them all up there and scoured the room for all of them.  One of the kiddos had one of them and she really wanted to take it away, but didn't.  She just "stalked" her until she put it down then scooped it up and raced over to hang it up.  That was good self-restraint!  : )

12/20/11

Morgan ate all of her dried apricots and seconds on whole wheat bagel at breakfast.  At lunch she ate seconds on applesauce and all of her baked fish and pea pasta salad.

Morgan immediately went over to the jumping mattress and said, "Need animals out!"  She then went with me to get the stuffed animals, helped me dump them out onto the mattress and commenced to play with them for quite a while.  She especially liked the two biggest ones.  it was cute because she and Jadey lined all of the animals up on the couch, then they each sat on one of the big bear's laps.  : )

Morgan was Gary's cuddle bug several different times this morning.  It is cute how she will be very snuggly with first one of us one day (or week or month) then the other one the next.  Gary was just eating it up.

Today Morgan had one of the purses over her shoulder and came over to tell me "Bye!" and that she was "going doctor".  I love their pretend play at this age and stage.

Morgan bit twice today.  The first one was very provoked (Jadey was hugging her around the neck and wouldn't let go).  The second one was Emily and we didn't see exactly what went on, but Emily isn't using in the other kiddos spaces or initiating conflict.  That one was really bad -- big welt from biting then pulling and instant bruising.  They were within 2 minutes of each other, so we wondered if the first incident didn't perpetuate the second.

Morgan was so sweet with Thomas today.  She was laying on the floor and Thomas went over and lay his head on her tummy to give her a hug.  She wrapped her arms around him and hugged him back.  Well, that just encouraged him and he kept wanting more and more hugs.  She let him do it (and even hugged him back) several more times before pushing him away gently and saying, "Nough!  Nough, Tom-Tom!"  : )

12/19/11

Morgan ate all of her craisins and about half of her bran flakes at breakfast.  At lunch she ate most of her cheese pizza and all of her steamed cauliflower and tropical fruit.

Kenzie's mom and dad told us that they heard her cheering "Go Niners!" this weekend.  Morgan is having her influence.  Peer pressure starts pretty young, I would say!  : )  They thought that was pretty funny.

Morgan was walking around singing "Jingle Bells" at close to the top of her lungs several times today.  I was pretty cute and very exuberant!  : )

We had bought some tutus for dress-ups and some new books, so we wrapped them up and let the kiddos unwrap them this morning.  They all had fun with that and immediately started putting on tutus and wanting to read the new books.  Gary read them to the kiddos for story time.

She was very busy exploring the new toy exchange today.  She especially enjoyed the play baking dramatic play things (mainly the cookies and cupcakes.  She kept coming over to feed me one or the other of them, or whatever it was that she was "mixing up" in the bowl.

Morgan had a purse over one arm and a wallet in the other today and was walking around saying, "I going work!"  Pretty soon all of the 'big' girls had purses and were also "going work".  : )

The journals may be a little briefer for the next couple weeks (or late) because our new baby Nora has begun full time and we are just learning her cues, schedule and so forth.  I may be busy with her during nap time, when I usually complete these, but I will do my best.

12/16/11

Wow!  I can't believe Christmas is a week from Sunday!  Whew!  I have a busy weekend ahead of me!

Morgan ate all of her malt-o-meal and raisins at breakfast.  At lunch she ate all of her spaghetti and salad with ranch and about half of her mixed fruit.

It amazes me how often this happens.  You know how I had told you how well she had been doing this morning (not biting, using her words, listening and cooperating, no major melt-downs...).  Well, today she bit and when we tried to remove her from the situation she fought us like crazy and had a 30+ minute melt-down.  Things had been going so well, it is hard to believe it could happen even after seeing it!  That's what I get for bragging, I guess!  : )

After breakfast, Emily didn't even hesitate, she headed right over to Morgan to get her to help her pull her sleeves down!  It is so cute and Morgan LOVES helping them.

We have several stuffed animals out that have arms that Velcro around each other in a hug.  They have figured out that they can also wrap them around their arms.  Morgan had about 5 of them hooked over her arm at one time and kept trying to get more, but couldn't get those ones to stay.

Morgan wanted in the igloo to play when there were already a couple.  Since we have been having the biting issues, we have been being very vigilant about having more than two kiddos anywhere close.  I told her she could have a "turn next".  She said, "OK!" great and waited until the two got out very well.

I kind of tweaked my shoulder and Morgan just came racing across the room saying, "Me kiss shoulder", which she did very sweetly then gave me a love.

12/15/11

Morgan ate all of her blueberries and most of her cinnamon raisin english muffin at breakfast.  At lunch she ate all of her potato salad and canned cherries and most of her chicken on saltines.

Morgan was trying to pull up her sleeves to wash and they weren't cooperating 100%.  She held them up to me and asked for help then told me "They're kind of tricky!"  That just cracked me up!  She said some of the funniest things.  Sometimes it is when she is trying to be funny, but often it is just in the course of the day.

Morgan was using the pretend soda bottle as a sprayer today.  She was 'spraying' it on the mirror as she said "Quirt-quirt", then rubbing it "clean" with one of the "cold cloths".  She got everyone else in "Cleaning" mode also, so our big room should be spick and spam.  : )

The doll she played with a lot today was baby "Riley".  I thought it was so sweet when she lay one of the blankets down, the doll on top of it, lay down beside it and started singing "Goo - nigh, Riley Roo!" over and over.  She was also singing "E-I-N-G-O" (BINGO) to her too, which was cute.

New Baby Nora was here again today and a hit.  She starts full time Monday.  Here is the picture I promised.

12/14/11

Morgan ate all of her peaches and seconds on biscuit at breakfast.  At lunch she ate all of her baked beans, pineapple and dinner roll and about half of her steamed broccoli.

Morgan turned the book area bench into her "motorcycle" by tipping it onto its back so she could sit on the seat deal.  She was making motorcycle sounds and inviting different friends to "ride with me!"

Morgan was so excited when jingle bells came on the CD we were playing today.  She started dancing and singing at the top of her lungs.  It was really cute.

Gary went outside to take several poopy diapers out to the outside trash.  When he left she told me, "Gary is a stink pot!"  That isn't a phrase I use and I don't think I have heard Gary use it so I am assuming it might be one from home.  It just cracked me up.  I wonder if taking poopy diapers might have triggered the stink part of it!  :  )
