3/9/12

Morgan ate all of her oatmeal and craisins at breakfast.  At lunch she ate all of her applesauce and her pea and pasta dish with cheese on to.  She ate about half of her burger.

Morgan requested that I turn on music this morning, but she was even more specific than that.  She asked for "Down by the station" and sang along great with it when I did find it and put it on for her.

Morgan was carrying around one of the little bears and one of the bigger ones today.  Her face suddenly lit right up and she said, "Give him hugs."  She then carefully put the little bear between the big bear's arms and then wrapped the arms around it.  She walked around carrying it like that for about 15 minutes.

Morgan told me "Need some alone time" this morning after there had been conflict with she and Jadey and Kenzie.  I thought that was pretty good that she recognized it, acknowledged it and was able to verbalize it.  I let her be on the yellow chair without anyone else bugging her or getting on it with her.  She just relaxed and looked at books.

Later she must have been wanting more alone time because she came up to me and asked to do puzzles "by self".  She worked on the puzzles for about 5 to 10 minutes before coming to the gate to rejoin us.

She told several of her friends that she was going to have a "good day" and "Watch penguins".  Of course, they all wanted to have "good days" too so they could go with Morgan and "Watch penguins!"  : )

3/8/12

Morgan ate all of her blue berries and about half of her blueberry bread pudding at breakfast.  At lunch she ate all of her kiwi and turkey burger and a couple green beans.

Morgan and the other older kiddos were so funny.  They were pretending that their babies were all sick.  They kept saying things like, "Oh no!  She puke all over!  She puke on the floor.  She poop through on me..."  You can tell we have had some sick kiddos around.  One of Morgan's favorite was talking about "go downstairs and change my clothes" (which I had to do twice this week from being pooped through on).

I picked up these cute little Dry Erase spiral notebooks with the alphabet on them for the kiddos to draw on or practice tracing the ABCs.  They all kept wanting me to help them "Do my name?"  They all loved it! Morgan actually imitated me making an M for her name after I had helped her hand over hand a couple times.  She verbalized, "I make my M name".  : )

Morgan asked to do puzzles this morning and did most of the puzzles in the rack before wanting to come back out and join us.

Morgan really likes the binoculars that have wild life (and a couple scenery pictures) in them.  She labels them as she looks and clicks through them.  If you check her out she is somewhere between 1/2 and 2/3 correct about what they are.

Morgan was making this low moaning sound as she was playing so I asked her what was wrong.  She kind of chuckled and said, "I crying" with a big grin on her face.  Silly goose!

3/7/12

Morgan ate all of her dried mangoes and about half of her whole wheat bread with jelly on it at breakfast.  At lunch Morgan ate all of her sweet potatoes and beef and bean burrito and a bite of tropical fruit.

Today Alayna brought a blanket from home and wanted to cuddle.  I told her we could for a little while and Morgan immediately wanted to cuddle with us also.  Alayna was very sweet about sharing her blanket with Morgan as the three of us cuddled on the couch.

Morgan struggled for about 45 minutes today with grabbing kiddos toys or clothing and not wanting to let go without intervention from us.  We started out with just verbally reminding her and that didn't work for any of the incidents.  When we finally had to help her let go, she had a melt-down all three times.  After the third time, it was like a switch flipped and there was no more trouble!  I snuggled her for quite a while after she took a little break and she kept telling me she was tired, so that was probably what was going on.  Also after she rejoined us after a break, Kenzie came over to very excited and exclaimed happily, "Morgan, you gonna listen?!"  : )  That cracked me up!  I guess Kenzie missed her and was glad she was back.

We were listening to the CD together during one of our snuggle times and every time a song ended she would kind of cock her head and ask, "What's that one?" about the next song coming up.  It was pretty cute.

I was at Staples making copies before class last night and found these neat white board spiral notebooks with the alphabet, numbers and just blank space.  I got six of them for the oldest ones.  We tried them today and they all really liked them.  Morgan and Joslyn were the only ones that really tried to imitate any of the letters.  They were both really trying to make the first letter of their name.

3/6/12

Morgan ate all of her cinnamon roll and a couple bites of plums at breakfast.  At lunch she ate all of her waffles and hashbrowns and a bite of scrambled eggs and cantaloup.

Morgan was much more active and energetic this morning than yesterday.  So far we have had no diarrhea incidents (no poops at all) and things seem to be pretty "normal".

Morgan was using the phone many times this morning and kept telling me, "I callin' somebody!"  She never pinpointed who that "somebody" was, but she talked to them a lot!  : )

Morgan was telling all of the kiddos (and many of their parents) that Grammy and Grampy (not how she says it) were picking her up today.  She got many of them insistent that their grandmas and grandpas were also going to pick them up also, so we may have several disappointed little ones at pick-up time!  : )

Morgan was looking at several of the books out of the book rack today.  One of them was a "Shoo Fly" book and had a picture of a fly standing on his head.  Morgan pointed at it and laughed to herself.  Another one was about a little polar bear and had a touch and feel spot on each page.  She went over to Emily and asked her if she wanted to "touch" it.  On one of those pages there was a picture of the baby bear cuddled up to the mommy polar bear and she looked at it and said, "Ohhh!  Baby bear snuggling his mommy!"  You could really tell she related to that!

3/5/12

Morgan ate most of her Kix cereal and a bite or two of mixed fruit at breakfast.  I thought for sure she would eat more because she had told Gary and/or I "I'm hungry!" or "My tummy's hungry" several times before breakfast.  At lunch she only at her broccoli (no mandarin oranges or ham sandwich).  At the beginning of lunch she started crying and said "I wet".  I thought she had probably had an accident so I took her into the bathroom, but nothing was wet.  I asked her if she had to go potty and she said she did and that her tummy hurt.  As soon as I helped her get up on the potty, she had diarrhea (and quite a lot).  I am SUPER glad she made it to the potty rather than doing that in her underwear!  : )

Morgan wasn't quite back to herself this morning.  She was very snugly, wanted held more than usual throughout the whole morning and even spent about 5 minutes just laying on the floor with the step as a pillow.

Morgan did play also though.  She had to try on a couple of the animal costumes, looked at the "new" books,  checked out the rest of the stuff and played with the back and fanny backs.  Speaking of  "fannys", today she bent over and reached back and had her hand in the waist band of her pants in the back.  She kind of chuckles and announced, "Bum crack!"  That cracked me up!  : )

Morgan kept telling me there was "something in teeth" from about 8:30 to 10:30.  I couldn't see anything even when I got my glasses.  After a while she must have either got it out or gotten used to it, because she didn't mention it again.

3/1/212

Morgan ate all of her cinnamon whole wheat toast and about half of her grapes at breakfast.  At lunch she ate about half of her canned cherries and dinner roll and all of her chicken and her mashed potatoes.

Morgan was having a pretty rough morning (or maybe it was me that was having a rough morning based on the happenings!)  : )  Just like we said, I should NOT have said anything about the kiddos doing better with the biting.  Morgan bite two people really hard today.  The first one was Jadey.  Three of the kiddos were jumping onto the mattress and bouncing very congenially.  Out of the blue (from my perspective -- not hers, I'm sure) Morgan jumped off of the balance beam deal and rolled over onto Jadey and bit her back.  It was hard enough that it left a full set of teeth marks and almost broke the skin.

The second time was Kenzie.  Morgan was laying on her belly on one of the doll blankets and Kenzie must have decided to try to lay down beside her.  She scooted up to her head and Morgan bit her right on the thigh so that it kind of tore the skin  I immediately put a cold pack on it, but I am sure it is going to leave marks and a bruise.   : (  Obviously Morgan took a break and had a pretty intense talk to.

She also had a medium melt down when I didn't understand what she wanted me to do with the doll blanket when she brought it to me.  The fuse was just extra short today.
On the "Why?" side of that, I do think she isn't feeling very well.  Her nose was slightly runny and she said it "hurt" several times.  She also told me she was tired twice and I saw her yawning many times throughout the morning.  Maybe she is getting a cold and didn't get quality sleep last night.  She always struggles when she is just starting to get sick and feels yucky.  Regardless, we don't want any more incidents so I shadowed her or had her shadow me the rest of the morning, keeping her within about 2 - 3 feet from me.

2/29/12

Happy Leap Year!  Morgan ate all of her bagel and bites of peaches at breakfast.  At lunch she ate all of her salad, corn and macaroni and cheese.  She also had a bite of her ham.

Morgan told me she had to go potty this morning.  I took her but she couldn't go.  Then she said, she had to go poop but wanted me to "stay".  Usually she tells me she wants me to "go out".  After a minute or so she passed gas then asked if she could flush.  I told her that she really hadn't gone potty so there wasn't anything to "flush".  She got a silly look on her face and said, "But I fahted" (farted?)".  I cracked up!  : )

Morgan was playing on the mattress for quite a while today, showing me all of the great jumps and "back flips" she could do.  She would announce if it was going to be a "BIG" one or a "little" one before she did it.  Of course, I couldn't see much difference between the two, but it was still funny!  : )

Morgan was playing with one of the dolls for a little this morning.  She brought her over to me and told me, "She really sick."  She then turned around and started to walk off, saying "Go doctor!"

As soon as we switched to the back room today, Morgan asked if I would "build a sidewalk".  She helped bring me blocks and was encouraging with with "good job" and "OK"s all along the way.  When I got it done, she and Kenzie played on it for maybe 3 minutes then started ripping it apart and announcing, "Sidewalk broke!"
