3/1/212

Morgan ate all of her cinnamon whole wheat toast and about half of her grapes at breakfast.  At lunch she ate about half of her canned cherries and dinner roll and all of her chicken and her mashed potatoes.

Morgan was having a pretty rough morning (or maybe it was me that was having a rough morning based on the happenings!)  : )  Just like we said, I should NOT have said anything about the kiddos doing better with the biting.  Morgan bite two people really hard today.  The first one was Jadey.  Three of the kiddos were jumping onto the mattress and bouncing very congenially.  Out of the blue (from my perspective -- not hers, I'm sure) Morgan jumped off of the balance beam deal and rolled over onto Jadey and bit her back.  It was hard enough that it left a full set of teeth marks and almost broke the skin.

The second time was Kenzie.  Morgan was laying on her belly on one of the doll blankets and Kenzie must have decided to try to lay down beside her.  She scooted up to her head and Morgan bit her right on the thigh so that it kind of tore the skin  I immediately put a cold pack on it, but I am sure it is going to leave marks and a bruise.   : (  Obviously Morgan took a break and had a pretty intense talk to.

She also had a medium melt down when I didn't understand what she wanted me to do with the doll blanket when she brought it to me.  The fuse was just extra short today.
On the "Why?" side of that, I do think she isn't feeling very well.  Her nose was slightly runny and she said it "hurt" several times.  She also told me she was tired twice and I saw her yawning many times throughout the morning.  Maybe she is getting a cold and didn't get quality sleep last night.  She always struggles when she is just starting to get sick and feels yucky.  Regardless, we don't want any more incidents so I shadowed her or had her shadow me the rest of the morning, keeping her within about 2 - 3 feet from me.

2/29/12

Happy Leap Year!  Morgan ate all of her bagel and bites of peaches at breakfast.  At lunch she ate all of her salad, corn and macaroni and cheese.  She also had a bite of her ham.

Morgan told me she had to go potty this morning.  I took her but she couldn't go.  Then she said, she had to go poop but wanted me to "stay".  Usually she tells me she wants me to "go out".  After a minute or so she passed gas then asked if she could flush.  I told her that she really hadn't gone potty so there wasn't anything to "flush".  She got a silly look on her face and said, "But I fahted" (farted?)".  I cracked up!  : )

Morgan was playing on the mattress for quite a while today, showing me all of the great jumps and "back flips" she could do.  She would announce if it was going to be a "BIG" one or a "little" one before she did it.  Of course, I couldn't see much difference between the two, but it was still funny!  : )

Morgan was playing with one of the dolls for a little this morning.  She brought her over to me and told me, "She really sick."  She then turned around and started to walk off, saying "Go doctor!"

As soon as we switched to the back room today, Morgan asked if I would "build a sidewalk".  She helped bring me blocks and was encouraging with with "good job" and "OK"s all along the way.  When I got it done, she and Kenzie played on it for maybe 3 minutes then started ripping it apart and announcing, "Sidewalk broke!"

2/28/12

Morgan ate all of her pears and about half of her blueberry muffin at breakfast.  At lunch she ate all of her sweet potatoes and tuna on saltines and a bite of her oranges.

Morgan was playing with the biggest stuffed animal bear today.  First of all she brought it over to the couch and said, "I sit on bear."  She then proceeded to put him on the couch and climb up to sit on his lap, just a chuckling and grinning the whole time.  I love how she is able to verbalize many of her "plans". Later we were singing songs and when we got to the "Twinkle" song she reached over and was "helping" the bear do the motions.  It was super cute!

Morgan was having fun with the dress-ups today.  She put on the hate and scarf and said, " I go hockey!"  She left it on for quite a while and was doing some great "hockey" moves before taking it off.  She must have said, "I go hockey" at least 20 times during that time.

The picture on the right (above) is one of her imitating Jadey and Kenzie by putting one mitten and one glove on her feet for slippers.  They looked so funny!

I can't remember what precipitated this, but Morgan started the other kiddos in practicing walking backwards the length of the big room.  She did it about four or five times and everyone else only made it once, I think.  They must have decided it wasn't worth the energy, I don't know!  : )

3/27/12

Morgan ate all of her Chex cereal and about half of her fruit salad at breakfast.  At lunch she drank all of her tomato soup and ate all of her apple slices and about half of her roast beef sandwich.

Morgan was pretty feisty with the kiddos until breakfast this morning.  She literally leveled three of them with a two handed push to their chest (Kenzie, Peyton and Emily).  I didn't see exactly what happened with Emily, but the other two were pretty unprovoked (both were just walking toward her, but not aggressively or trying to take a toy).  After breakfast she didn't have any more incidents.

We went over some of our sign language today, sang some songs, practiced our colors using the color poster on the wall (and doing some of the signs along with the verbal words).  We also named animals int he two while animal posters on the wall.  They all were very into that and I think every child names at least a couple animals.

Great morning with toileting.  I decided I would try just waiting for someone to ask to use the potty to see how that went this morning and there was actually one stretch from about 8:45 to 11:00.  Both Morgan and Jadey were still dry and Kenzie was dry, but had had a poopy diaper change in between.

One funny thing from last Friday afternoon that I have to tell you.  Morgan was looking at the family pictures and specifically at the pictures of her when she was a baby.  She points to one of them and says "That's my sister's baby" then to another one of her when she was a baby and says, "and that's my granddaughter's baby!"  I just cracked up!  : )

2/24/12

Morgan ate all of her prunes and about half of her oatmeal at breakfast.  At lunch she ate all of hashbrown casserole and her biscuit and a bite of her fruit.

Morgan was looking at books today and found one that had a big yellow star on one of the pages.  She started singing "twinkle-twinkle".  After she had sung about half of it, she stopped and deliberately started over, singing it with a "big star" instead of "little star".  She had to bring first my then Gary's attention to the fact.  It was really cute!

She was playing with one of the stuffed bears today and took it over to Gary and told him, "It Monte!"  A little while later she again was playing with it and brought it over to me.  I commented that she had the "Monte bear" and she looked at it, thought for a second, then shook her head and said, "No!  That Mo!"  What a little thinker!  : )

Morgan was feeding me some pretend ice cream out of one of the ice cream cups today.  I was playing along and making enjoyment sounds.  Morgan's face lit up and she said, "Mmmm!  We love ice cream!"  I think I have probably said that when we were "eating" ice cream before, but the way she did it was so funny!

When we went into the back block room, Morgan immediately went over to the Duplos and she started stacking the square ones together until she hand LOTS of them stacked on top of each other.  She then proudly announced, "look-a-dat-tower!" as she strutted around carrying it (until it tipped and broke).  She fixed it backup and it doubled as a phone to "talk mommy", a "teeter-totter" and "upstairs".

2/23/12

Morgan ate all of her melon and a couple bites of french toast at breakfast.  At lunch she ate all of her slices turkey, crescent roll and squash and a couple bites of mandarin oranges.

Morgan almost always sings lullabies with me when I am singing to the babies to calm them, while I feed them or while I am preparing them for their naps.  Many times she also sings then while she is playing with the dolls.  I have about 8 of them that I always sing together in a certain order and Morgan knows which one comes next.  When I finish one, she will sometimes start the next one before I do, if I am distracted or something...  : )

Morgan and Jadey have kind of been vying for Kenzie's attention and play time.  It used to be that Morgan would win all the time, but Jadey had learned that if she is more congenial, it helps.  Sometimes they all three can play together amiably for at least brief periods of time.  Here they all tried to sit sideways in the big chair.  It worked for a couple minutes until Morgan either fell off or got bumped off.

Morgan pointed out that she had on her ABC shirt on several times today, which mean that we had to sing the ABC song multiple times, of course.  All of the kiddos actually really like that, so it works great!

Morgan was looking at a Sandra Boynton book today that had a picture of a hippo looking kind of forlorn.  Morgan looked at it for a while then said, "He have bad day!"  That is pretty good to recognize the feeling representing the look and apply it to a situation like that!  Again I say, she is a smart little whooper!

2/22/12

This is going to be pretty brief, as I have had a very busy day between the extra time spent in the bathroom with the toilet training and having a fussy baby that has needed extra attention and could wake up anytime needing more.

Morgan ate all of her toast and a couple bites of mixed berries at breakfast.  At lunch she ate a bite of ham, about half of her kiwi and all of her saltines and her bean soup.

She had a great toilet training morning -- no accidents.  She also has been great about encouraging and cheering on the other kiddo's successes.

Morgan came over to me after breakfast today and said, "Do signs"  She then headed over to the step under the big window where I have them sit and waited until I finished what I was doing and was ready to help them work on their signs.  She is recognizing more and more and being about to do many of them, also.  I firmly believe the reason why any of the other kiddos are interested at all is because of her enthusiasm.  : )  What to go, Morgan!
